Ahead of the 2025/26 Series A season Juventus have set the ball rolling after reaching agreement with a striker that can help them challenge for the Scudetto next season.

Softfootball can report that the Old Lady’s have verbally agreed a deal for Canadian striker Jonathan David. The Lille forward would join on a free transfer if he passes his medical and sign a long-term contract with the Turin club.

David who is Canada’s all-time top goalscorer with 36 goals in 67 international appearances, has been involved in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament until last Sunday when they were shockingly eliminated at the quarter finals via penalties by Guatemala.

Coincidentally, Juventus was also participating in the FIFA Club World Cup and suffered an exit at the round of 16 stage barely 24 hours later when they fell 1-0 to 15-time European Champions Real Madrid.

Both parties being in the same region at the time accelerated negotiations and by midnight on Tuesday verbally agreed to a deal that would see David swap Lille for Juventus this summer, this report was also confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Recall, Softfootball had reported earlier that Juventus offers three players to Manchester United for Jadon Sancho. Juventus remain in pole position to sign the England winger; they are ready to pay United’s asking price but not Sancho’s wage demands.

Apart from a direct deal, swap deal talks have also taken place between both parties, with the Bianconeri offering the Red Devils the option of landing either Douglas Luiz, Dusan Vlahovic, or Timothy Weah.
