Juventus exit looms for Timothy Weah as Marseille secure agreement for his transfer

Serie A giant, Juventus and Olympique de Marseille have a verbal agreement in place over the sale of USMNT forward Timothy Weah after an increased offer from the Ligue 1 side.

Softfootball understands that the winger is now waiting to get approval to travel to France to complete the move to the Ligue 1 side. Weah has made 78 appearances for Juventus, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists in all competitions.

The United States international is ready to return to France after two years in Turin. He has previously represented Paris Saint-Germain and Lille in Ligue 1, while also spending time on loan at Scottish giants Celtic in 2019.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, Marseille have an agreement in place to sign Weah on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy at a later date.

The report claims that Marseille will pay Juventus a fee of €1m to bring the 25-year-old on board for the 2025-26 season, and that they will then pay a further €14m plus up to €3m in bonuses to make the move permanent.

The tweet reads:

“EXCL: Tim Weah to Olympique Marseille, here we go! Deal verbally agreed now also with Juventus.

“Exclusive details: package will be €1m loan fee, €14m obligation to buy, €3m add-ons, sell-on clause.

“Weah only wanted Marseille, just waiting for green light to travel”.

The agreement comes despite recent reports that Marseille were reluctant to improve upon their recent offer of €13m to buy Weah outright. A move to the Orange Velodrome will allow  the budding winger to follow in his father’s footsteps, as George Weah represented Marseille in the 2000/01 season.

Timothy Weah’s impending arrival continues what has been a busy summer for Marseille. So far, they have made eight new signings ahead of a return to the Champions League next season.
