Just as they played a 4-4 draw with Dortmund during the week, Juventus again settled for a draw in the Serie A.

Juventus, who had been somewhat sluggish and hesitant in their approach during the early exchanges, were the first to make a real breakthrough.

It came in the 19th minute when Conceição produced a moment of individual brilliance. Picking up the ball in space, he embarked on a clever solo run before unleashing a superb strike from outside the box, leaving the Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo helpless and putting the visitors 1-0 up. That goal seemed to finally inject life into the Bianconeri, but it also spurred the hosts into action.

However, Hellas Verona responded positively to the setback, pushing forward with more intent and creating a series of half-chances that tested Juventus’ backline. Their persistence was rewarded just minutes before half-time.

A long throw-in into the penalty area caused problems for the Juventus defense, and in the chaos, Mario was adjudged to have handled the ball. The referee Andrea Rapuano pointed straight to the spot, giving Verona the opportunity to equalize.

Orban, who’s just returning to the starting lineup for Verona this evening, stepped up with composure and slotted the ball past Di Gregorio, who had guessed the right way but could not keep it out. That decisive kick made it 1-1, ensuring both sides went into the interval with everything still to play for.

Orban won the man of the match award and dedicated it to the fans. Watch below as shared on Verona’s official X handle:

Interestingly, the statistics told a slightly different story, as Verona’s expected goals (xG) of 1.02 far outweighed Juventus’ 0.25, reflecting the greater threat posed by the home side despite the even scoreline.

When play resumed for the second half, the intensity of the match did not waver. Both sides looked eager to find a winning goal, with Juventus attempting to re-establish control while Verona continued to grow in confidence. Chances came at both ends, though the final touch was often lacking.

Meanwhile, the most dramatic moment arrived when Verona believed they had taken the lead from a well-worked corner routine, Nunez flicked the ball on at the near post, sending it across the face of goal to Serdar, who was perfectly positioned at the back post to finish.

The stadium erupted in celebration, but those cheers were dashed as VAR intervened. After a thorough review, the goal was chalked out, crushing Verona’s hopes of completing the turnaround.

The match then entered a cagey final phase. Both teams pushed, probing each other’s defenses, but clear-cut opportunities grew rarer as time ticked away. Juventus, despite their early lead, struggled to rediscover their rhythm and were often second best in terms of attacking threat. Verona, on the other hand, looked the more ambitious side but could not find the precision required to secure all three points. In the end, neither side managed to break the deadlock again, and the referee’s whistle confirmed a 1-1 draw.

Juventus are currently in the first position with 10 points and their next game is against Atalanta, while 15th placed Verona has three points and plays their next game against Venezia in the Coppa Italia.
