Jorge Sánchez has completed a permanent move to PAOK, sealing his return to European football.
The deal was confirmed on February 5, 2026 by Fabrizio Romano on their official x handle. Sánchez leaves Cruz Azul and signs a contract in Thessaloniki until June 2029. The transfer fee is reported to be around €3.4 million, with a further €420,000 in performance-related add-ons.

The 27-year-old arrived in Greece to complete his medical and sign the contract with PAOK CEO Maria Goncharova, alongside his representatives from Unique Sports Group. This move also marks the fifth departure from Cruz Azul in the Clausura 2026 window.

Elsewhere in Europe, late drama has been a theme in LaLiga. Getafe saw their winless run stretch to seven matches after conceding a heartbreaking 94th-minute equaliser to Girona, with Vitor Reis heading home to rescue a 1–1 draw. Getafe had been in front through Luis Vázquez.
There was more late drama in Sevilla’s 2–2 draw with Elche. Returning from AFCON, Akor Adams came off the bench to score twice for Sevilla, including a 92nd-minute penalty, to salvage a point and halt a four-game losing streak.
According to Softfootball , Sánchez has now officially landed in Greece to complete the final formalities of his move to PAOK, with the club expecting him to slot straight into their plans for the second half of the season.
