It’s kind of wild to think Jesús Navas is 40 today, November 21, 2025. For people in Sevilla, and honestly even outside Spain, this isn’t just another birthday. It feels more like the celebration of a whole era.
SoftFootball has been reporting loads of Sevilla stories lately, like the dramatic 2-2 draw with Elche and that surprising Sevilla 4-1 win against Barcelona. Those matches show how emotional the club has been this season, and Navas still feels tied to everything that happens there, even after hanging up his boots.

Thinking back to last year, his 39th birthday almost felt like the beginning of the end, even though nobody wanted to say it out loud. Onda Cero hosted Radioestadio Noche live from the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, and the whole night basically revolved around him.
Legends like Pablo Blanco and Joaquín Caparrós sat around him. He cut a birthday cake on live TV, smiling but with that look in his eyes like he already knew his farewell year would be tough.

His official retirement came on December 30, 2024. More than 45,000 fans came to the Sánchez Pizjuán, chanting his name like it was a final goodbye to an entire chapter of their lives. Navas talked about how a stubborn hip injury forced him to stop playing, and he admitted that bringing joy to Sevilla fans was honestly the main thing that kept him going.
They gave him a framed shirt with the number 705, the number of official games he played for the team. Sergio Ramos even said he’s probably the biggest legend the club ever had, while Rodri called him a role model in every way.

His career does not even need exaggerating. He won four Europa Leagues with Sevilla, two Copas del Rey, a UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA/CONMEBOL Club Challenge, and then a Premier League plus EFL Cups during his time at Manchester City.
Sevilla, via their official X account, posted a birthday tribute to Jesús Navas, a legendary right-back and academy product of the club. The post includes a 72-second video montage highlighting Navas’s career highlights with Sevilla, such as key goals, assists, and defensive play.

Wishing you all the best, Jesús, and thank you for so many unforgettable moments! 🤍❤️ pic.twitter.com/zOxN9GC5BG
And for Spain, he was part of the teams that won the 2010 World Cup, Euro 2012, Euro 2024 and the 2023 Nations League. Not many players can say they lived through that kind of glory.
Even after retirement, the awards did not stop. In 2025, Andalucía named him Hijo Predilecto, and later this year on May 30, Sevilla will give him the Medal of the City. It’s their way of saying his name is basically part of their identity now.

So yeah, turning 40 is not just a birthday for him. It’s like a reminder of everything he gave to football and to a city that never stopped loving him. Even though he’s retired, Navas still feels like the heartbeat of Sevilla, and his story will definitely stay alive long after all of us stop talking about today.
