Newcastle United are on the brink of sealing a £40 million move for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, with the transfer now in its final stages.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, an agreement between the two clubs is almost done as they put the finishing touches on the package.

Writing on his official X account, Romano revealed:
“Understand Newcastle are closing in on Jacob Ramsey deal with Aston Villa! Agreement almost done for £40m package as clubs are finalising the deal, and then… here we go. Despite West Ham approach, Ramsey only wants Newcastle, as #NUFC move is now imminent.”
Softfootball reports that despite a late approach from Nottingham Forest and West Ham, Ramsey is fully committed to joining Newcastle, making the move all but certain. The 22-year-old, who has been with Aston Villa since his debut in 2019, is entering the final two years of his contract, a factor believed to have helped accelerate the transfer.

Ramsey was a key figure for Villa last season, scoring four goals and registering five assists across 46 appearances in all competitions.
If completed, this deal would add further depth and creativity to Eddie Howe’s midfield as Newcastle prepare for another push in both domestic and European competitions.
