Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim has urged calm and patience around the club’s January transfer plans, insisting the focus remains on long-term stability rather than rushed decisions that could hurt the team later.
The Portuguese manager was speaking ahead of United’s clash with Wolves tonight, a game that offers the Red Devils a chance to close out a difficult year on a more positive note. United have endured an inconsistent campaign, with performances and results drawing criticism, but Amorim has continued to stress the importance of sticking to a clear process.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Amorim addressed the club’s approach to the transfer window by saying:
I’m not going to ask for more signings. They know our needs, and I’m aware we’re following a process to avoid past mistakes. If we have to suffer now, we will maybe be two steps ahead in summer. The January market is really tough, so we’ll see.
Despite that stance, Manchester United have not been idle this winter. The club have been active in the market and recently explored a move for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, as Softfootball reported. However, United were beaten to his signature by Manchester City, with the winger opting to join Pep Guardiola’s side instead.
That outcome only reinforces Amorim’s message about the challenges of the January window, where competition is intense and deals are often complicated. For now, the United boss appears content to work with his current squad, accept short-term pain if necessary, and build towards a more decisive summer rebuild as he looks to guide the club back to stronger footing.
