Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho is looking forward to making an impact at Championship club Middlesbrough following his loan move from Sevilla.
The forward completed his switch to Boro on transfer deadline day and is now focused on helping the club achieve its targets for the remainder of the campaign.
Softfootball reports that Iheanacho is hoping to revive his career in England after struggling for regular playing time during his short spell in Spain.
The 28-year-old joined Sevilla as a free agent last summer following his departure from Leicester City but failed to establish himself as a key player for the LaLiga outfit.
Iheanacho made nine league appearances for the Rojiblancos without scoring before securing a return to English football.
Speaking to Middlesbrough’s official website, the former Manchester City striker expressed his excitement about joining the Championship side. Iheanacho said:
I’m really excited to be here, it’s a lovely place, they’ve made me feel welcome so I’m really happy.
The move went really quickly. Everything was quick and fast so I’m buzzing to be here. The coach is good, the team is good, and I’ve played against them few times and I think it’s a good club.
The Nigerian also revealed that returning to England feels like coming home and recalled his previous experience playing in the Championship with Leicester City.
Iheanacho is now determined to put his difficult spell at Sevilla behind him and focus on making a positive contribution at Middlesbrough.
