Kelechi Iheanacho isn’t hiding from a tough truth: his move to Sevilla hasn’t gone to plan so far.
The former Manchester City forward, who joined the LaLiga club on a free transfer over the summer, has found himself starting most games from the bench and has managed just two goals, both in the Copa del Rey.
Softfootball gathered that Iheanacho was candid about the adjustment when asked about his form, explaining:
When you are not at your best, at your peak, then you look very tough. In general, football is not simple. Probably everyone will say that it is easy. Obviously, the way we play makes it look easy. But it is not because there is a lot of hard work to do, both in training and in matches.
The 28-year-old’s struggles at club level come at an awkward time, arriving just as questions swirl around his best position for Nigeria ahead of the Super Eagles’ AFCON preparations. Finding consistent minutes at Sevilla may prove key to settling both situations.
