Manchester United head coach, Ruben Amorim has said he would like to stay at Old Trafford for 20 years and insists he has no doubts that the club will become champions of England and Europe again in the nearest future.
The upcoming season will be the Portuguese boss first full campaign at United, his first half-season saw him guide the club to 15th place and defeat in the Europa League final.
Amorim came under fierce scrutiny last campaign, particularly for his refusal to adjust his tactical philosophy during a prolonged period of poor form by the squad.

Speaking ahead of the new season as seen on Manchester United official website. Amorim, who has two years remaining on his contract with the option for a third, boldly declared his ambition to emulate Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary 27-year reign knowing fully well that no coach has lasted more than three years at Old-Trafford since the Scot left 12 years ago. The Portuguese coach said:
“I want to stay, I want to stay 20 years. That is my goal and I truly believe in that. Something will happen. It always does
“In some moments I will be lucky. I had a lot of luck during my career as a manager and my idea is to stay for many years. But again we know that the results will dictate that. I know that last season I used up all the credit I had but I’m ready to start afresh.
“At Sporting it was the same thing. They said that in three months I’m out. They said that I had a three per cent chance of winning the title with Sporting. I know that the pressure is different .
“But I don’t like to change clubs. I like to bond with people and carry on. I know it sounds crazy but I chose this club. I had the feeling and I just want to bond, to be part of it and I will stay here.”
Ruben Amorim has endured a stormy eight months since replacing sacked Erik ten Hag last November as United had their worst top flight season in half a century, capped by their Europa League Final defeat by Spurs.
But the Portuguese gaffer is convinced he has everything in place to follow in the long-term footsteps of United managerial greats Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson and create his own dynasty.
