France head coach Didier Deschamps has explained that Kylian Mbappe was omitted from his latest squad purely for technical reasons.
Softfootball understands that the Real Madrid forward was left out of the squad despite being available for selection, prompting widespread speculation over the decision.
Speaking to Marca, Deschamps dismissed suggestions that Mbappe’s absence was linked to off-field issues, insisting the decision was based solely on football considerations.

The French manager revealed that he held several conversations with the captain before finalising his squad and stressed that Mbappe was eager to represent his country.
Deschamps also made it clear that the decision applies only to the current international window and should not be interpreted as a long-term issue between him and the forward.
The World Cup-winning coach added that he respects differing opinions but has no intention of providing further explanations, maintaining that the selection was his responsibility and one he fully stands by.
