Diego Simeone has made his stance clear ahead of Atlético Madrid’s crucial showdown with Barcelona, insisting he will stick to his tactical approach.

Speaking confidently, the Atlético boss emphasized that he already has a plan in place and has no intention of changing it, a statement shared by Fabrizio Romano via his X handle.

Romano reported;

Diego Simeone on Atléti-Barça: “I have a plan and I won’t change my mind on that”.

This comes on the back of Atlético’s impressive momentum, including a strong 2-0 victory at the Camp Nou in the Champions League, where Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth delivered clinical finishes to secure a historic away result.

Meanwhile, speculation linking Simeone with a return to Inter Milan has been firmly shut down. Club president Beppe Marotta dismissed the rumours as “fake news,” making it clear there is no agreement in place. Inter remain fully committed to their current manager Cristian Chivu, who continues  to lead the team strongly in Serie A.

Softfootball had reported that Simeone had also addressed the growing talk around Antoine Griezmann and his expected move to Orlando City SC. The Argentine manager showed full support, acknowledging that the forward has earned the right to decide his future after years of service.

With his departure expected in July 2026, Griezmann is now focused on finishing his Atlético career on a high note.

Simeone remains fully focused on the present balancing big European nights with domestic battles while keeping his long-term project at Atlético firmly on track.
