Dominik Szoboszlai believes he is playing the best football of his career as Liverpool prepare for a huge Premier League clash against Arsenal tonight at the Emirates Stadium.
The Hungary international was speaking to the press ahead of the game in comments shared via the club’s official X handle, with Arne Slot’s side heading into the contest on a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Reflecting on his form so far this season, Szoboszlai sounded confident but grounded, insisting his focus remains on consistency and helping the team. He said:
I feel like I am at my peak in my career, I would say: working hard day by day, game by game. Just trying to help the team, give my best and enjoy playing football.
Despite his personal progress, the midfielder admitted that team success ultimately defines how much satisfaction he can take from his performances. He explained:
Well, no. Because the team is not doing as well as I would like it to, so I cannot enjoy it as much as I would enjoy it if we would also win the games and be in the same position like, for example, last season. But that’s the aim. That’s what we are aiming for.

Szoboszlai also spoke about his growing influence within the squad, suggesting leadership is something he tries to demonstrate rather than talk about. He added:
To say it is hard, but I always try to show it on the pitch with my performances. And also off the pitch, I try to help everybody, try to be there. I’m speaking on the pitch, I would say.
Looking further ahead, the former RB Leipzig man did not hide his ambition when asked about the possibility of captaining Liverpool one day. He stated:
I can imagine [it], yes. I would love to. Of course, it’s an honour to be a captain of Liverpool FC. I think everybody would love to be. Yeah of course, if there is a time, I would love to, yeah.
With the business end of the season approaching, Szoboszlai stressed that Liverpool’s focus remains simple and results-driven. He added:
To look game by game and start to win games, because that’s the first step to success. Then let’s see what the future brings. We have a lot of goals as a team and that’s [what] we would like to achieve.

Attention inevitably turned to his memorable moment against Arsenal earlier in the campaign, when his stunning free-kick sealed a 1-0 win at Anfield. While the goal still lives long in the memory, Szoboszlai made it clear he is firmly focused on what lies ahead. He said:
Of course I remember. [But] this is the past, I’m thinking of the future. You cannot live from the past. This happened I don’t know how many games [ago]. I hope another chance is coming and I can do it again.
That thunderous free-kick in the reverse fixture remains one of Liverpool’s standout moments this season, and Softfootball understands that as the Reds return to the Emirates tonight,Szoboszlai will be hoping for another decisive contribution as Slot’s side look to extend their unbeaten run and make another statement against title rivals Arsenal.
