“I am proud,” Noni Madueke explains after joining Arsenal

Noni Madueke completed his move from Chelsea to Arsenal after the North London team unveiled the English winger. Softfootball understands thar the deal to get Madueke’s signature cost Arsenal 52m.

The 23 year old was part of Chelsea’s team to have interestingly won 2 trophies – the UEFA European Conference League and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Chukwunonso Azuka Tristan “Noni” Madueke born in Greater London had at a young age had a feel of some London teams before his career kick started in full.  He joined Crystal Palace at age 9 before playing for another London team, Tottenham Hotspurs where he captained the U15s and U16s.

He later signed a 3 year deal with Dutch side, PSV Eindhoven in June 2018 on a three-year contract and made his senior debut in 2020. He proved his worth as PSV defeated Ajax in a 4–0 Johan Cruyff Shield win by scoring twice in 2021 which led to his Chelsea move in 2023.

Madueke’s switch from West to North London seemed surprising to a lot of fans of both clubs but the winger was not moved as he completed his transfer. He penned an emotional goodbye to Chelsea and fans explaining his time with the Blues.

He sent words to his news family at Arsenal as he spoke to Arsenal media in his first interview with the club. He elucidated that winning was not far off. He explained that:

“I’m somebody who goes with my gut feeling a lot of the time and I feel like it’s steered me in the right direction so far. So, I don’t think it’s going to be any different here. I think it’s going to be a great success and I’m really happy to be here.

“I’ve just been relaxed, waiting for the green light and when I came in today, it all felt real. I’m really happy and really proud, so it’s a great moment for me. It’s great to go back home, be with my mum, my dad.

“It’s already a great team with a clear identity and I can’t wait to bring my style to the team and try and help the boys as much as possible to take that next step.”

Softfootball followed the Madueke story as he was unveiled by the Gunners after his 52m move. Arsenal have unveiled their newest signing of the transfer window, Noni Madueke.

Madueke becomes Arsenal’s 4th signing of the summer after Zubimendi, Arrizabalaga and Norgaard.
