TSG Hoffenheim manager Christian Ilzer has praised Gift Orban’s impact since arriving at the Bundesliga club, insisting the Nigerian forward is most effective when deployed as a central striker.
Orban joined Hoffenheim from French side Lyon during the January transfer window and has enjoyed an impressive start to life in Germany, scoring four goals in his first five appearances.
Softfootball understands the striker’s quick adaptation has impressed both his teammates and coaching staff.
Ilzer believes Orban’s movement and finishing ability make him a constant threat inside the penalty area. He stressed that Hoffenheim must continue creating opportunities that allow the 22-year-old to operate where he is most dangerous. Ilzer said:
When you see how dangerous Gift is in the box, we have to make sure we use him there more often.
The Hoffenheim coach also praised Orban’s overall development, noting that his contribution now extends beyond scoring goals.
According to Ilzer, the Nigerian has improved his work rate and understanding of the team’s tactical system, allowing him to integrate more effectively.
He believes those qualities will make Orban an increasingly important player as Hoffenheim push for a strong finish to the season.
