Heavy Weather Hits Le Classique as Marseille vs PSG Postponed

The much-hyped Le Classique between Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain that was set to be played on Sunday, September 21, 2025, has been pushed back because of the severe weather conditions in the south of France, Softfootball reports.
The French Authorities has issued a high alert in the area after they were warned of heavy rain and floods and therefore the decision by the match officials was to postpone the match to a later date.

PSG confirmed the postponement of the much antcipated encounter vs Marseille, to a new date via their offical X handle, the post reads;

for PSG, the postponement comes after their 4-0 triumph over Atalanta at the Champions League, an event that highlighted their ability to attack and signified a message to the rest of Europe. In comparison, Marseille are yet to heal the wounds of a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants were down to ten men but Marseille failed to capitalize with Kylian Mbappe remaining calm at the penalty spot.

The rescheduled game will feature on Monday evening. Although the tickets are not lost, the new date will create a direct conflict with the Ballon d’Or event, which will pose a unique scheduling challenge to both players and staff, not to mention fans.

Emotions are high and both sides going into the match with differing luck, the delay serves only to create further drama to what is already one of the most heated rivals in French football.
