Benfica are on the verge of completing the signing of Georgiy Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk in the final stretch of the transfer window in what is set to become the most expensive transfer in the club’s history Softfootball reports.
The deal is reported to be worth €30m in fixed fees, plus additional bonuses tied to performance. This surpasses the previous record set by Orkun Kokcu, whose transfer totalled €29.7m including objectives and fixed fees.
Last season, Georgiy Sudakov played 37 matches for Shakhtar, netting 15 goals and providing 6 assists. The Ukrainian attacking midfielder played his final match for Shakhtar on Thursday against Servette in the second leg of the Conference League playoff before moving to Lisbon.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X account, Benfica have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for Georgiy Sudakov. The Ukrainian midfielder is set to become Benfica’s new No.10. The update adds that Shakhtar will retain a 20% of any future sale. He tweeted:
“BREAKING: Georgiy Sudakov to Benfica, here we go! Deal agreed right now between clubs with Shakhtar.
Rui Pedro Braz and Darijo Srna close the agreement at €27m plus €5m add-ons and sell-on clause over 20%.
Sudakov will be the new number 10 of Benfica!”
After the match against Servette on Thursday, Sudakov’s gesture towards the fans, which included applauding and waving goodbye, suggests a farewell and strengthens the possibility of his transfer to Benfica. He is expected to arrive in Lisbon today for medicals and to sign the contract.
