Fulham and Manchester United go head-to-head at Craven Cottage on Sunday, August 24, 2025, with both sides chasing their first Premier League win of the new campaign. The Cottagers rescued a dramatic point on opening weekend, while United were left ruing a costly mistake in a narrow defeat to Arsenal.
Softfootball reported that Marco Silva’s men began their season with a rollercoaster 1-1 draw at Brighton. Rodrigo Muniz was the hero, striking a dramatic 97th-minute equaliser that not only silenced the Amex but also quieted some critics, including Paul Merson, who had questioned Fulham’s lack of firepower.

Still, Silva has been openly frustrated with the club’s passive summer in the transfer market, insisting his squad needs more depth if they’re to improve on last season’s mid-table finish. Sunday will be Fulham’s first home test, but having lost their final three matches at Craven Cottage last term, the Londoners know they must shake off any lingering doubts quickly.
Manchester United, meanwhile, left Old Trafford scratching their heads after a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. The Red Devils created plenty of chances and arguably outplayed the Gunners, only to be undone by a rare blunder from goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim preferred to look at the positives, singling out newcomers Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for impressive debuts. Amorim, though, is already under scrutiny, with 15 defeats in just 28 Premier League games in charge, more than he suffered in 167 matches in Portugal.
In an interview uploaded on Manchester United’s X handle, Ruben Amorim revealed that the team has to play in the same way they played against Arsenal.

However, history offers the United some encouragement. They’ve beaten Fulham in each of the last eight visits to Craven Cottage, and no opponent has been more charitable to them in London. But form is not entirely on their side: the Red Devils have won only three of their last 23 league away games in the capital, all of them against Fulham.
However, Fulham are not fazed and even uploaded a cheeky video of Joshua Zirkzee’s penalty miss the last time both teams played on their official X handle.

Manchester United have uploaded the team’s starting lineup on their official X handle.
United Starting XI:
Key players could decide this one. Muniz, the league’s most prolific super sub with seven goals off the bench since last season, may once again play an impact role. Cunha, meanwhile, returns to a ground where he has scored three and assisted once in his last two visits. Fulham are sweating on the fitness of left-backs Antonee Robinson and Ryan Sessegnon, while United remain without defensive pair Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martínez.
Fulham’s Starting XI:
Both managers know a win would steady nerves and set the tone for the season. For United, it’s a chance to make history with a ninth consecutive away victory over one opponent; for Fulham, it’s the perfect opportunity to shake off their poor home form and prove their critics wrong.
