Inter Milan continued their impressive Serie A form with a dominant 3–0 victory over Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani on October 30, 2024, Softfootball reports. A second-half brace from Davide Frattesi and a late strike from captain Lautaro Martínez ensured Cristian Chivu’s side collected all three points against a home team reduced to ten men before the halftime interval.
Empoli’s hopes suffered an irreversible blow in the 31st minute when defender Saba Goglichidze was sent off following a VAR-reviewed red card. The dismissal forced Alessio Dionisi’s men onto the back foot for the remainder of the match, as Inter grew increasingly comfortable in possession and control.
Inter thought they had taken the lead earlier, in the 21st minute, but VAR intervened to rule out the goal. Despite dominating the first half, the Nerazzurri entered the break frustrated, with Empoli defending deep and compact to keep the score level at 0–0.
The breakthrough finally arrived five minutes after the restart. Matteo Darmian surged down the right and delivered a perfect pass into the path of Davide Frattesi, who slotted calmly past Daniele Vázquez to make it 1–0. The goal opened the floodgates, and Inter’s midfield dominance grew even more pronounced.
Frattesi struck again in the 67th minute, this time receiving a clever ball from Lautaro Martínez before firing home to double the advantage. His brace capped a brilliant individual performance, further solidifying his place as one of Inter’s most impactful midfielders this season.
With Empoli tiring and Inter in full control—boasting 75% possession and over 700 completed passes—the visitors added a third in the 79th minute. Nicolo Barella slipped a superb through-ball to Martínez, who made no mistake with a clinical finish to seal the 3–0 victory.
Chivu used the comfortable margin to rotate his squad, introducing Denzel Dumfries, Piotr Zieliński, Benjamin Pavard, Mehdi Taremi, and late substitute Tomás Palacios. Inter’s depth proved once again to be one of their biggest weapons, with fresh legs maintaining the team’s high tempo through the final minutes.
Empoli, despite making multiple substitutions in search of balance, were unable to threaten Inter’s defence, registering only one shot on target all evening. The numerical disadvantage, combined with Inter’s relentless passing game, left the hosts chasing shadows for much of the second half.
The win strengthens Inter’s position near the top of the Serie A table and highlights their ability to control matches with authority. With Frattesi in outstanding form and Martínez continuing to lead by example, the Nerazzurri head into November full of momentum and confidence.
