Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has accepted to become the new manager of Saudi Arabia Pro League side, Al Qadsiah, Softfootball reports.

Rodgers left Celtic of Scotland earlier this season following some poor results. He was recently replaced by Wilfried Nancy from Columbus Crew head Coach, whom is currently struggling after two defeats in his opening match.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle revealed the deal in his latest post. He wrote:

Al Qadsiah recently allowed Michel Gonzalez leave the club and they put out a statement via their official X handle, thanking the Coach for all he has done for the team. They posted:

Al Qadsiah tried to poach Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr mate, Otavio earlier just before the new season as they want to challenge for the Saudi Arabia Pro League title. They are inspired by the title push and that’s the reason Brendan Rodgers was wanted as new Coach.

Rodgers began his coaching career at Reading and later joined Chelsea’s staff under José Mourinho. After brief spells managing Watford and Reading, he took charge of Swansea City in 2010. At Swansea, he implemented a possession-based style and led them to promotion to the Premier League.

He became Liverpool manager in 2012, notably leading the team to a second-place finish and over 100 league goals in the 2013-14 season, earning him the LMA Manager of the Year award. He was dismissed in October 2015.

Joining Celtic in 2016, Rodgers achieved significant domestic success, including an “Invincible” season and consecutive domestic trebles. He returned to the Premier League with Leicester City in February 2019, guiding them to their first-ever FA Cup win in 2021 and two fifth-place finishes. He left Leicester in April 2023. Rodgers returned to Celtic in June 2023, where he won two more Scottish Premiership titles and a Scottish Cup before resigning in October 2025.

Al Qadsiah are currently in fifth position with 17 points on the Saudi Arabia table, 10 points behind league leaders, Al Nassr after nine matches so far.
