AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca has urged Samuel Chukwueze to improve the defensive side of his game as the winger continues to adapt to life at the club, softfootball reports.

Chukwueze has enjoyed increased playing time this season after struggling for regular opportunities during his debut campaign with the Rossoneri.

However, ahead of Friday’s Serie A clash against Atalanta, Fonseca revealed that Yunus Musah would start, citing the American’s defensive qualities.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Portuguese coach explained:

“Musah will play. I think that we have prepared well for this match.

“It will be a tactical game. It’s very easy to understand how Atalanta play. They won’t change, but it’s hard to face them because they do very well in attack and defence. I think we are prepared to face them.”

Fonseca also praised Chukwueze’s attitude while encouraging the Nigerian international to continue improving.

“Chukwueze is adapting well, and he has an impressive attitude. He’s not stronger than Musah defensively, but he can do the same in some games.”

The former Villarreal winger will now be hoping to impress when given his next opportunity as he continues to compete for a regular starting place in Milan’s attack.
