Former Sevilla manager Quique Sánchez Flores believes incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has the qualities needed to help Rasmus Hojlund reach his full potential, Softfootball reports.
Flores, who previously coached Amorim during his playing days at Benfica, is confident the Portuguese tactician can transform the Danish striker into one of the Premier League’s most dangerous forwards.
Hojlund has endured an inconsistent spell at Old Trafford since arriving from Atalanta, with Manchester United’s overall struggles limiting his impact in front of goal.
According to Flores, the 21-year-old possesses the attributes of a top-class striker, but his success will depend largely on the team’s overall improvement under the new manager.
The Spanish coach believes Amorim’s tactical approach and ability to develop attacking players could have a significant influence on Hojlund’s progress, just as he did with Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting CP.
Flores also highlighted Amorim’s leadership qualities, describing him as an intelligent, disciplined, and committed individual who always maintained a close relationship with his teammates during his playing career.
He added that Amorim’s teams are known for their organization, discipline, and strong collective work ethic, qualities that have contributed to his success in Portugal.
Flores further compared Amorim’s dedication and professionalism to that of former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, although he acknowledged that only time will determine whether the new coach can achieve similar levels of success.
Amorim is set to officially take charge of Manchester United after completing his commitments with Sporting CP, with expectations high that he can revive the club’s fortunes.
