Softfootball can confirm FIFA has officially unveiled the Technical Study Group (TSG) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a specialized panel tasked with analyzing all 104 matches during the tournament and contributing to the selection of major individual awards, including the Golden Ball.
The group will operate under the guidance of legendary former Arsenal F.C. manager Arsène Wenger, while former Swiss goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbühler will lead the technical operations.
FIFA confirmed via a post on thier official x handle that the panel features several renowned football figures from different parts of the world, including Jürgen Klinsmann, Gilberto Silva, Pablo Zabaleta, and Tobin Heath among others.

The Technical Study Group will provide advanced tactical analysis, player performance reviews, and strategic insights throughout the tournament as FIFA aims to deepen global understanding of the game during the expanded competition.
The announcement comes shortly after FIFA intensified preparations for the 2026 World Cup by launching several global initiatives. Earlier this month, FIFA confirmed the launch of the Football for Schools (F4S) programme in Curaçao and Turkmenistan, focusing on youth development and life skills through football.

FIFA had also recently posted a countdown graphic featuring the World Cup trophy and the message “ONE MONTH” ahead of the June 11, 2026 kickoff date.
The 2026 tournament will be the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup and will run until July 19 across 16 host cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
