Fede Valverde Admits Frustration Amid Dip in Form at Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder and captain Fede Valverde has opened up about his struggles in recent weeks, with the Uruguayan star admitting he hasn’t been performing at the level he expects of himself.

Softfootball understands that the midfielder, who started the season brightly, has found it difficult to maintain his rhythm in recent matches ,a frustration shared by fans after Madrid’s woeful 5-2 defeat to rivals Atlético Madrid, their heaviest derby loss in over a decade.

According to top journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official x handle, Valverde didn’t shy away from sharing his emotions after Madrid’s latest outing, where his influence was again subpar. The 27-year-old has been a key part of Los Blancos’ midfield in recent years, and his honesty reflects the pressure he feels to deliver for the team in his new role as captain of the side, he said;

I’m frustrated. I’m aware of how I’m playing. A player knows when he’s not doing things right on the pitch. I started well in this new project but now it’s been harder for me to feel comfortable. I’ll continue to give my all as captain, on and off it.

Itis no doubt that Madrid still have full faith in Valverde’s leadership, with Xabi Alonso publicly backing him to rediscover his best form. The Uruguayan has always been admired for his work ethic and resilience, and there is belief within the club that he will soon bounce back.

This comes at a crucial time, with Real Madrid set to face Khirat Almaty in the Champions League, a side everyone expects them to to bounce back against easily. Valverde’s return to form could be decisive, as the club relies on his energy, drive, and leadership to inspire the squad through inconsistent times.
