Marshall Munetsi is unhappy over how young African footballers are taken advantage of by ‘fake agents’ who end up ‘killing’ their football dreams, Softfootball reports.
It was Yaya Toure that mentioned that football in Africa is played with freedom. It may be true but the route to making it as a footballer from the continent is almost impossible. Talent is guaranteed in every corner of the continent but African talents are special and this has been witnessed at the biggest stages in football.

Adding his voice to this sensitive issue during his interview with Joe Hart on the official FIFPRO podcast series tagged Footballers Unfiltered, Munetsi talked about the crisis of fake agents preying on young African players. He said:
It’s more than a crisis in Africa. A person might create a social media account, come to Europe, watch a game… take a picture [with a player], then put that picture on their profile and write they’re a football agent. A lot of people then end up paying money to that agent with promises of going to Europe. I had three guys who came to France when I was at Reims asking for accommodation because an agent had promised them some trials in Europe, and then they were just stuck at the airport when they got there. Nobody was there. I’m talking about guys who are playing for top teams in Africa that were also scammed. It’s a big problem that needs to get real attention.
One of the best results in the premier league for Munetsi since he joined Wolves on deadline day in January 2025 from Reims was during the Old Gold’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the last game of 2025.

Marshall Munetsi is a versatile midfielder, capable of playing central, defensive, or attacking roles, even as a striker. He is known for providing goals from midfield, leadership, box-to-box energy, and physicality, with experience in both Ligue 1 and South Africa. He played 159 games for Reims, scoring 21 goals, with a strong 2022/23 season. He helped Zimbabwe win the COSAFA Cup in 2018 and began his football development in South Africa with clubs like Orlando Pirates before moving to Europe.
