BBC Sport highlighted comments made by Mikel in his interview with DAZN, where he praised PSG’s midfield trio of Joao Neves, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz for their game-controlling abilities. He said:

“When the three in the middle dictate the play like that, no-one can stop them. It has been a masterclass.”

Interestingly, it was Fabian that got two out of the four goals for PSG in the emphatic win. Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos with the other goals.

And to put PSG’s dominance into context, Real Madrid, 15-time Champions League winners had never lost a Club World Cup match before but conceded three goals in the 25 minutes for the first time since 9 November 2003 against Sevilla in La Liga.

Ahead of the Club World Cup final on Sunday, Mikel is already scared for his former side, Chelsea as he lavishes PSG with praise following their remarkable victory over Real Madrid in the semi-final. The Blues legend claims:

“I don’t think anybody wants to play PSG right now.

“Every team in the world right now is looking at them asking ‘how can we play like this?’

“Everything they did was an absolute masterclass.”

Softfootball reported earlier how Mikel was worried over the performance of Chelsea star man, Cole Palmer so far in the Club World Cup. John Obi Mikel explained that Palmer is becoming a marked man, and opposition teams are now building strategies around neutralising him.

Mikel emphasized that both the player and coach need to adapt quickly. The English midfielder would need to be on top of his game to help the Blues overcome an almost Perfect PSG team.
