Enzo Maresca has revealed that he is not paying too much attention to outcast Chelsea players, prioritizing a significant clear out at Stamford Bridge. The gaffer is eager to streamline the Blues’ bloated squad, paving way for new signings.
Softfootball reports that the Italian coach has already allowed a number of Chelsea players depart Stamford Bridge this summer. The likes of Joao Felix, Djordje Petrovic, Noni Madueke, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Kepa Arrizabalga and others.
The squad returned to training earlier this week ahead of two friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan this weekend. In his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash as seen on Chelsea official Youtube page, Maresca said that he did not “pay attention” to the players he had earmarked for an exit.
He said:
“The situation, I think, is quite clear. They are training, I guess they are waiting for a solution.
“But when they leave, it’s just the club that texts me or calls me, even Tom media officer, he just mentioned to me that Lesley Ugochukwu joined Burnley.
“I have this kind of news from him or from the club because I don’t pay attention to the ones that need to leave. I just focus on how we prepare the session, how we can win games.
“For sure, it’s much better to work with 25 players than the biggest number, no doubt. At this moment, we are working with the ones that we want.”

The games against Leverkusen and Milan will be Chelsea first match action of pre-season following their participation and triumph at the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, and the games will play an important role in getting minutes into the legs of Enzo Maresca’s players ahead of the new season.
