Éder Militão Out with Adductor Injury, Real Madrid Faces Defensive Crunch

3 Min Read

Real Madrid have confirmed Éder Militão has a muscular injury in the adductor magnus of his right leg. The defender felt discomfort during Brazil’s 1–1 friendly draw with Tunisia and had to be substituted in the 60th minute. Tests by Real Madrid Medical Services confirmed the injury, as shared on the club’s official X account.

It is not serious, but he will miss some upcoming matches. The timing is tricky. SoftFootball can confirm that Militão is expected to miss La Liga games against Elche, Girona, and Athletic Club. He could also sit out the Champions League clash with Olympiacos. There is hope he might return for the home match against Manchester City.

His absence adds to worries after Dani Carvajal’s knee injury, leaving Xabi Alonso with limited defensive options. The club now has to dig deep in defence. Antonio Rüdiger is still recovering, and if Huijsen is not fully fit, Alonso may have to use Raúl Asencio or youth options. Real Madrid have nine matches in 29 days coming up, six away, which is brutal with such limited depth.

This is another setback for Militão. He tore his ACL in his right knee in November 2024 and missed most of last season. He also had an ACL rupture in his left knee in August 2023. Despite all this, when fit, he is a rock in the back line. His injuries have limited his contribution, but he remains vital.

Real Madrid lead La Liga by three points over Barcelona and are fighting to stay on top in the Champions League group. Losing Militão now puts pressure on the squad. How Alonso navigates this stretch could define the season.

Militão’s return will be watched closely. Even a short absence can affect defensive cohesion. Real Madrid will be hoping he comes back strong and fast.
