Everton registered back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season after grinding out a resilient 1–0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, ending the Red Devils’ four-match home winning streak, and doing so despite going down to 10 men early in the contest, Softfootball reports.
Manchester United came into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw against Tottenham before the international break, but any hopes of building momentum were disrupted by a chaotic moment in the opening stages. Referee Tony Harrington stunned everyone when he showed Everton’s Idrissa Gueye a straight red card for striking teammate Michael Keane in the face during an altercation a bizarre incident that immediately altered the flow of the match.

Yet United failed to take advantage of the extra man, and they were punished before the half-hour mark. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall produced a moment of pure class, skipping past a pair of weak challenges on the edge of the area before bending a sensational right-footed effort into the top corner, leaving Senne Lammens helpless despite getting his fingertips to the ball.
Having scored first in eight of their opening 11 PL matches, Ruben Amorim’s side were visibly shaken after conceding. Off-target efforts from Patrick Dorgu and Amad Diallo showed flickers of intent, while Jordan Pickford was forced into action to repel Bruno Fernandes’ long-range rocket, but Old Trafford remained muted as belief slowly drained from the stands.

Ruben Amorim , whose pre-match comments hinted that transfer-rumoured youngsters Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo would remain at the club demanded more intensity from his players after the restart, and United dominated possession. But dominance without incisiveness remained the story. Aside from a comfortable save from a low Mbeumo effort, Pickford’s goal was rarely threatened as United struggled to turn pressure into clear chances.
United’s best opportunities came late, with Fernandes skying a good chance over the bar and Zirkzee twice being denied by Pickford, first with a superb flying save from a header, then with another strong stop in the dying moments. But Everton’s defensive wall held firm to secure a famous and hard-earned victory.
After the game, Everton via its official X handle, shared the reactions of their Incredible fans in the away end and the manager, immediately the final whistle went off, this is a very much deserved victory for the toffees as they finally beat Manchester United at Old trafford in 33 games and even did it with 10men. For Manchester United, the defeat brings an end to a five-match unbeaten run and raises fresh questions about their productivity in the final third. Meanwhile, David Moyes will be thrilled with the grit, organisation, and maturity shown by his side, capped off by Dewsbury-Hall’s brilliant solo winner. It marks only Everton’s second victory in 33 league visits to Old Trafford.
