Debut delight: Crystal Palace fans singing my name motivated me – Christantus

Uche Christantus has revealed that Crystal Palace fans singing his name on his debut for the club motivated him, Softfootball reports.

The 22-year-old Nigeria international was a late substitute in the premier league match-day 4 as the Eagles drew goalless against newly promoted Sunderland at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening. Crystal Palace biggest win this season came against Aston Villa when they won 3-0 at Villa Park.

In an interview with Crystal Palace’s official media, the Super Eagles midfielder expressed his delight after making his debut despite the match ending in a draw. He said:

I would say the game is good, but it’s not the result we wanted.

We tried to put all the work, but it didn’t work out, but nevertheless we keep working every day to get it right.

The fans are good. I heard ‘Uche, Uche’! That’s what motivated me more, because for me I play with fans. I play with everybody. Once the fans trust in me, I will give everything 100 percent.

Uche Christantus praised Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner for believing in him and revealed what the Coach told him before he went into the pitch for his debut against Sunderland. He revealed:

He said that I should go in there and make it right. I’m seeing him. He’s a great coach and he believes in me. I have to go inside and give my best.

I believe in myself so much. I believe once I’m on the field, I’ll make something that will surprise everybody, because I believe in myself.

It doesn’t matter when you put me [on], I will play, so once I enter today, I have a feeling that I will make something change. It didn’t come today, but hopefully next game it will come.

Christantus will hope to make his first start for Crystal Palace when they return to action in the Carabao Cup against Millwall on Tuesday.
