Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign promising Toulouse centre-back Jaydee Canvot. The Selhurst Park side have reportedly earmarked the 19-year-old as a late reinforcement to Oliver Glasner’s backline, with the Ligue 1 outfit open to a sale before the summer transfer deadline.
Canvot performances last season have caught the eyes of many big clubs around Europe. Last week, Aston Villa saw a bid for Toulouse defender rejected, and now they face competition from a Premier League rival ,Crystal Palace.

The 19-year-old who can also play as a holding midfielder signed his first professional contract with Toulouse last summer, running until June 2029, and made his first-team debut in September. He recently impressed scouts while representing France at the Maurice Revello Tournament in June, helping Les Bleus to victory.
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano via his X account, Crystal Palace have joined the chase for Toulouse’s highly rated French centre-back. This move comes after Aston Villa’s bid for the defender was turned down last week. His post reads:
“EXCL: Crystal Palace enter the race for French centre back Jaydee Canvot after Aston Villa bid rejected last week.
Toulouse always asked around €20m for French defender.”
Recall, Softfootball had earlier reported that Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner has declared that the Eagles 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on Sunday in the match-day two of the Premier League is “okay.”
With Crystal Palace set to Rival Aston Villa in the race to lure the French defensive sensation to Premier League, it will be interesting to see if they reach closer to Toulouse’s asking price of €20 million.
