Softfootball understands that Arsenal has suffered another setback after Mikel Arteta confirmed that young defender Cristhian Mosquera will be out for several weeks due to the ankle injury he sustained in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Brentford.
Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed this report via his official X account.

He posted:
Mikel Arteta confirms Mosquera will be out for weeks due to injury.
Unfortunately, he’s going to be out for weeks. Unfortunately, it’s much more than what we expected, but the player was feeling it, so he’s going to be out for weeks.
Arteta admitted the injury was much more than the team first hoped and suggests Mosquera might miss around six to eight weeks, which likely pushes his return into early January 2026.
The defensive problems at Arsenal are now stacking up quickly. William Saliba is still recovering from a minor muscle issue, and Gabriel remains out with a thigh injury that could keep him off the pitch for up to two months.

Piero Hincapié is the only fully fit centre-back, forcing Arteta to use Jurrien Timber, normally a full-back, through the middle.
The lack of depth showed in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in their last Premier League game, where Arsenal conceded in the 95th minute, ending their impressive 18-match unbeaten run.

Softfootball recently reported that Saliba is close to returning from injury, which gives the team something to look forward to, and Kai Havertz is also moving along well with his recovery from a knee problem.
The situation isn’t ideal by any means, but there’s at least a small sense of relief knowing that a few key players are edging closer to full fitness.
