Samuel Chukwueze was on target for AC Milan, but the Rossoneri slipped to a painful 2-1 defeat against Lazio in a dramatic Serie A clash on Sunday.
Lazio took the lead after Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic lost possession, allowing the visitors to launch a swift attack. Mike Maignan denied Adam Marusic’s initial effort, but Mattia Zaccagni reacted quickest to fire home the rebound. Despite being reduced to 10 men, Sergio Conceicao’s side fought back impressively. Rafael Leao delivered an inviting cross from the left, and Chukwueze escaped his marker to power a header into the net, with the ball bouncing in off the underside of the crossbar.
The visitors looked set to earn a valuable point until deep into stoppage time when Lazio were awarded a penalty after a VAR review. Pedro calmly converted from the spot to snatch all three points for the home side.
Chukwueze’s strike was his third Serie A goal of the season, but it could not prevent Milan from suffering a third consecutive league defeat.
The result leaves the Rossoneri ninth in the table, six points behind the European qualification places as pressure continues to mount on the club.
