Samuel Chukwueze came off the bench to feature in AC Milan’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Empoli on Saturday night, continuing his gradual reintegration into Paulo Fonseca’s squad this season.

Softfootball understands that the Nigerian winger replaced Yunus Musah with 15 minutes remaining, adding fresh legs to a Milan side that had already established control of the match well before his introduction.

Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for the hosts after 19 minutes, giving Milan an early foothold in the contest.

Tijjani Reijnders doubled the lead just before the break, finishing off a well-worked move set up by Christian Pulisic, before completing his brace with a third goal in the 69th minute to put the result beyond any doubt.

The win adds to a productive week for Milan, though Chukwueze himself continues to find regular starts hard to come by.

The 25-year-old has scored just one goal in 13 league appearances this season, and his cameo against Empoli offered a brief opportunity to remind the coaching staff of his qualities in the final third.
