Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has urged the Blues to reignite their interest in Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen when the transfer window reopens next summer.
Softfootball noted that Johnson believes Chelsea would be making a huge mistake if they fail to make another attempt to sign the prolific Nigerian forward after missing out on his signature during the last transfer window.
Chelsea were strongly linked with Osimhen over the summer but were unable to reach an agreement, with the club reportedly failing to meet the striker’s wage demands.
The 25-year-old eventually sealed a season-long loan move to Turkish champions Galatasaray after his proposed switch to Stamford Bridge collapsed.
Despite the setback, Johnson believes the London club should return for the Napoli-owned striker, insisting a player of Osimhen’s quality should remain a top priority.
The former England international described Osimhen’s temporary move to Galatasaray as surprising and maintained that Chelsea should seize the opportunity to bring one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards to Stamford Bridge.
