Chelsea are reportedly preparing an ambitious move to sign Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace, with the Blues willing to include one of four first-team defenders in an attempt to secure the French centre-back’s signature.

According to Softfootball, Chelsea could offer Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi, or Benoit Badiashile as part of a player-plus-cash proposal to make the deal more attractive for Palace.

The West London club are eager to reinforce their defence ahead of the new season and view Lacroix as a key target. The French defender has impressed with his pace, composure and physical presence, making him one of the Premier League’s most highly rated central defenders.

Among the potential makeweights, Chalobah’s future remains particularly uncertain. Despite featuring regularly last season and re-establishing himself in Chelsea’s first-team plans, the 26-year-old has entered the final two years of his contract.

While negotiations with Crystal Palace are still at an early stage, Chelsea hope that including an experienced defender in the package could help lower the transfer fee and give them an advantage in the race to sign Lacroix before the summer transfer window closes.
