Chelsea have opened negotiations with Real Madrid for the signing of left-back Álvaro Carreras, submitting an opening offer worth €25 million as they look to strengthen their defensive options this summer.
Real Madrid are understood to value the Spanish defender at around €50 million, leaving a significant gap in negotiations. Despite the difference in valuation, Chelsea remain determined to push ahead with talks in the hope of reaching a compromise.
Softfootball reported earlier in June that Carreras had emerged as one of Chelsea’s leading targets following Marc Cucurella’s departure to Real Madrid, with the Blues prioritising reinforcements at left-back under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea are also continuing discussions with Rayo Vallecano over Pep Chavarría. The London club are attempting to agree a deal below the defender’s release clause as they assess multiple options to strengthen the left side of their defence ahead of the 2026/27 season.
With negotiations ongoing on both fronts, Chelsea remain active in the market as Alonso continues reshaping his squad for the new campaign.
