Burnley’s Premier League struggles at Turf Moor deepened as the Clarets fell 2-0 to Chelsea, extending their woeful joint reocrd run to 10 home league games without a win against the Blues. The result sends Enzo Maresca’s side up into second place and continues their strong domestic momentum, Softfootball reports.
Chelsea arrived in Lancashire without key attacker Cole Palmer, who Softfootball understands suffered a further setback after aggravating a toe fracture at home. Yet despite also juggling a busy week ahead that includes fixtures against Barcelona and Arsenal and coming off a 3-0 home victory over Wolves they eventually produced enough quality to take all three points.

Burnley actually started the brighter of the two sides, pinning Chelsea back with early pressure. Loum Tchaouna and Jaidon Anthony both found shooting opportunities inside the opening minutes, but last-ditch blocks from the visiting defence repeatedly frustrated them. Chelsea were slow to settle, struggling to progress the ball, with a blocked Pedro Neto strike the only moment of mild concern for Burnley before the half-hour mark.
Trevoh Chalobah eventually registered Chelsea’s first attempt on target, though Martin Dúbravka gathered comfortably. The Blues finally began to find rhythm before the interval, with Kyle Walker’s crucial intervention denying Jamie Gittens at the far post. But moments later, Gittens made amends, floating a superb cross to the back post for Neto, who ghosted in unmarked to head Chelsea into a 1-0 lead.

Chelsea returned from the break playing with greater purpose, though their creativity remained inconsistent. Gittens’ deflected effort dropped just wide, while Neto came inches away from doubling the advantage when his driven strike cannoned off the post shortly after the hour mark. Burnley nearly punished that wastefulness when Zian Flemming volleyed over from close range,a warning that prompted Scott Parker to make a triple change.
However, the Clarets’ substitutions failed to shift momentum. Chelsea’s organisation and defensive discipline kept Burnley at arm’s length, and Maresca’s men eventually sealed the win late on. Marc Guéhi powered through a challenge and squared the ball for Enzo Fernández, who swept home into an empty net to secure a comfortable finish for the visitors.
After the game, Enzo Marseca and Andre Santos who got the nod over Moses Caicedo in the midfield, spoke to the the press shared via the team’s official YouTube page, they talked about the win and what to expect from their crucial games next week against Barcelona and Arsenal. Watch the video below:
The defeat intensifies Burnley’s relegation worries, while Chelsea continue gathering momentum at a key point in their season despite being without star man Palmer. With Barcelona and Arsenal on the horizon, this disciplined victory serves as the perfect tune-up for the challenges ahead.
