Chelsea is keeping in active contact with Xavi Simons as one of their main transfer targets, with the club also in separate talks over Alejandro Garnacho.
Softfootball gathered that the Blues remain firmly focused on adding the Dutch midfielder to their squad, while negotiations for the Manchester United winger continue on a different track. The two pursuits have no direct connection, despite the busy nature of Chelsea’s summer window.
Simons, 21, is currently at RB Leipzig, having moved from Paris Saint-Germain, and his performances in the Bundesliga have caught the eye of several top European clubs. Chelsea, however, is understood to be the player’s preferred destination should a move materialise.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Simon is keen to join Chelsea, same as Garnacho, who has blatantly told Manchester United of his Blues dream.
Sources indicate that discussions between Chelsea and Leipzig officials are expected to resume this week, with the London club working to navigate the complexities of PSG’s involvement in the deal.
Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X handle:
“Chelsea mantain contacts active for Xavi Simons among main targets… while they also negotiate for Garnacho.
“The two topics remain separate as always reported and Xavi’s priority remains Chelsea move.
“Discussions ongoing again this week with RB Leipzig.”
Chelsea’s long-term interest in Garbacho has been ongoing since last season, but a deal wasn’t struck. Despite Chelsea’s interest in the transfer market, Enzo Maresca has ruled out any potential move to bring goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to Stamford Bridge.
For Garnacho, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of a high-profile switch from Old Trafford, although Manchester United’s stance remains firm.
The two clubs are currently negotiating the transfer fee, with Chelsea hopeful of finalising the deal soon. The Red Devils, who initially wanted £70m for Garnacho, have reportedly reduced their asking price to £50m in the hope of securing his exit.
