Chelsea have made it clear that Enzo Fernández will not be available for transfer in January if Manchester City fail to reach an agreement before today’s 5pm UK deadline.

Manchester City and Fernández’s representatives were in discussions throughout Thursday, with the situation now reaching a decisive stage. City must make a final decision today if they want to complete a blockbuster move for the Argentine midfielder.

Softfootball confirmed on August 13 that Chelsea had set a firm Friday 5pm UK-time deadline for Manchester City to complete a potential £120 million deal for Fernández.

The Blues have clearly communicated their financial expectations and are refusing to extend the deadline. Chelsea’s position is understood to be that if City’s required terms are not satisfied by 5pm, Fernández will remain at Stamford Bridge and will not be made available even during the January transfer window.

Manchester City have been in discussions with the midfielder’s representatives for several days as they consider a major move for the Chelsea star.

The pressure is now on City to decide whether they are prepared to meet Chelsea’s demands and complete one of the biggest transfers of the summer.
