Softfootball can confirm Chelsea remain fully committed to signing Pep Chavarría, with negotiations continuing after the club’s opening bid for the left-back was rejected.
The Blues have not been discouraged by the initial setback and have already scheduled a new round of talks as they look to reach an agreement with Chavarría’s club.
Encouragingly for Chelsea, the player is understood to have made his intentions clear. Chavarría wants to join the Stamford Bridge side and is keen to work under new head coach Xabi Alonso, giving the Premier League club confidence that a deal can eventually be completed.
Strengthening the left-back position remains one of Chelsea’s priorities this summer following the departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid. The club have explored several options in the market, but Chavarría has emerged as one of their preferred targets.

Chelsea are expected to return with an improved proposal in the coming days as discussions continue between the two clubs. Club officials remain optimistic that an agreement can be reached despite the rejection of their initial offer.
With the player fully behind the move and negotiations ongoing, Chelsea hope to make further progress soon as they continue rebuilding the squad for the 2026/27 campaign under Alonso.
