Softfootball understands that Celtic Football Club have officially pulled the plug on Wilfried Nancy’s reign as manager, ending his time at the club after just one month in charge of the club.
The decision was confirmed by sport journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official X account.
He posted:
BREAKING: Celtic announce they’ve decided to sack Wilfried Nancy with immediate effect.
Nancy, who recently arrived in London in December to sign a new contract as Celtic manager, caused a fair bit of excitement. There was curiosity, optimism, and even belief that a fresh voice could spark something new.

But football doesn’t wait, and results came far too slowly. In eight competitive games, Celtic picked up only two wins while losing six, including a heavy 3-0 defeat to Roma in the Europa League, a run that quickly drained patience from the stands and, clearly, the boardroom as well.
On the pitch, performances were uneven and at times hard to watch. The team lacked rhythm, confidence looked shaky, and mistakes kept creeping in. The League Cup final defeat to St Mirren was a major warning sign, one that many fans felt should have been a turning point, but instead things only got worse.
The final blow came in the Old Firm derby on Saturday; Celtic’s 3-1 home defeat to Rangers was more than just a loss; it felt like confirmation that things were going the wrong way.

Losing at home to your biggest rivals rarely ends well for any manager, especially one already under pressure. The club thanked Nancy for his efforts and wished him well, though the message was brief and straight to the point.
The changes didn’t stop with him. His entire backroom team, including Kwame Ampadu, Jules Gueguen and Maxime Chalier, have also left the club.
Head of Football Operations Paul Tisdale has departed too, showing this is more than a simple sacking. News on a replacement should come soon enough. For now, fans wait and hope the next decision finally brings back stability to the club.
