Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has urged Marcus Rashford to concentrate on improving his performances on the pitch rather than making public comments about his future at Manchester United.

Softfootball can confirm Rashford recently revealed he was ready for a new challenge after being omitted from United’s matchday squads against Manchester City and Tottenham.

The England international’s remarks have fuelled speculation over a possible departure from Old Trafford, where he has spent his entire professional career.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher questioned why Rashford continues to dominate headlines despite his inconsistent performances in recent seasons. Carragher said:

I feel like I’ve been talking about Marcus Rashford for the last week. He’s not that good of a player for the amount of time that we talk about him. Wayne Rooney was, David Beckham was, Cristiano Ronaldo was.

The former Liverpool defender also criticised the timing of Rashford’s comments, insisting they could weaken Manchester United’s negotiating position if the club decides to sell him.

Carragher believes Rashford should remain focused on earning his place through strong performances rather than speaking publicly about his future.
