Barcelona President, Joan Laporta has claimed that the return of the club to Camp Nou will greatly help their financial stability, Softfootball reports.
Barcelona hammered 10-man Athletic Bilbao 4-0 in their first game back at the renovated stadium, The last time Barcelona played at that ground was in May 2023.

After the match, Laporta shared his thoughts with Barcelona’s official X handle. He said:
We are extremely happy. Happy for all our supporters. Not only for the local ones but for the ones we have around the world. Returning today to the Sportify Camp Nou means a lot and we are celebrating the happiness of life. Today, we are re-dedicating Barca life…. It’s really important to our financial sustainability as well.
Interestingly, Laporta recently claimed that Lionel Messi deserves a statue at the new Camp Nou after the Argentine secretly visited the stadium on the same night Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 4-2 away from home courtesy a Robert Lewandowski hat-trick.

Barcelona scored two goals in each half to see off Athletic Bilbao at the newly renovated Camp Nou. Robert Lewandowski got the first goal and Fermin Lopez doubled the lead before Lamine Yamal provided two assists for Ferran Torres to get his brace and hand the home side a 4-0 win inside the iconic stadium.

The match was played in front of 45,157 fans as large parts of the stadium was closed but when its fully functional it is expected to have 105, 000 fans in the stadium at the same time.
