Chelsea’s Emirates FA Cup campaign came to a disappointing end on 8 February 2025 as Brighton & Hove Albion secured a 2–1 victory in the fourth round at Falmer Stadium, Softfootball reports.
Chelsea initially took the lead through an early own goal from Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen in the 5th minute. The Blues looked set to progress comfortably, but Brighton fought back with Georginio Rutter equalizing in the 12th minute.
Kaoru Mitoma then scored the winner in the 57th minute, completing the comeback and sealing Chelsea’s exit from the competition.
Despite Chelsea’s attacking talent on display, they were unable to break down Brighton’s disciplined defense after the first half. Brighton’s resilience and clinical finishing ultimately proved decisive, handing them a hard-earned victory.
Chelsea now turn their focus back to the Premier League and Europa Conference League, looking to bounce back from this cup disappointment.
