Kaye Furo from Club Brugge to Brentford, here we go! Deal done for 2007 born striker for €10m plus add-ons and sell-on clause. Furo’s set to undergo his medical, as HLN Sport has reported. The deal is done.

Club Brugge will also benefit from a sell-on percentage significantly higher than the usual 10 per cent, making this one of their most profitable academy exits in recent memory. Even though Furo only made five senior appearances and scored once, his performances at youth and U21 level had already caught plenty of attention.

The forward has represented Belgium at U19 and U21 levels. But he could also play for Nigeria through his father, Iyenemi Furo, a former Super Eagles defender who featured in the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations. That dual eligibility could make his international future quite interesting.

Despite interest from clubs like RB Leipzig, Brentford moved quickly to secure him, building on a good relationship with Club Brugge.

The plan is to gradually ease Furo into the first-team setup, hopefully following in the footsteps of Igor Thiago, who has been in fine form for Brentford this season, recently scoring a hat-trick in Brentford’s 4-2 victory against Everton and also winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for November. He is another Brugge recruit who joined in 2024.

Brentford are clearly thinking long-term here. Furo might not explode onto the Premier League scene immediately, but with patience, he could become a key part of the squad and maybe even one for the future of Belgian or Nigerian football.
