Brentford have confirmed the arrival of Italy-born Nigerian defender Michael Kayode on loan from Fiorentina for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the transfer permanent this summer.
The highly-rated right-back joins the Bees after emerging as one of Fiorentina’s brightest young talents over the past two seasons. Kayode enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Serie A, making 26 league appearances while also featuring prominently during Fiorentina’s run to the UEFA Europa Conference League final.
Softfootball reports that the agreement includes an option for Brentford to complete a permanent transfer at the end of the season if the youngster impresses during his stay in England.
The 20-year-old began his youth career at Juventus before moving to Gozzano, where his impressive performances earned him a switch to Fiorentina. After initially developing within the club’s academy, he broke into the senior squad and quickly established himself as a regular first-team player.

Brentford believe Kayode’s versatility, pace and attacking qualities from right-back will strengthen Thomas Frank’s squad as they continue their Premier League campaign.
