Bournemouth vs Newcastle preview: Cherries chase 100% home record as they host Magpies

Bournemouth welcome Newcastle to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday for an intriguing Premier League match-day 5 fixture, Softfootball reports.

The Cherries under Andoni Iraola finished ninth last season which was their joint-best ever in the Premier League. Coincidentally, only the current Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe had achieved that record for the club back in 2016-17.

This season they have started the season brilliantly after three wins and a loss against reigning Premier League champions, Liverpool. At Anfield, the Cherries fought back to 2-2 before the Reds finished it off at 4-2.

Newcastle United have not enjoyed a great start to the premier league season and in midweek, the Magpies suffered a 2-1 home loss to Barcelona courtesy a Marcus Rashford’s brace.

It would be a very tough game for Newcastle because they have failed to win in their last five matches with two wins and three draws.

Bournemouth will be without striker Enes Unal due to a knee injury. Adam Smith continues treatment on his hamstring injury, he picked up during the win over Tottenham, meaning James Hill should continue at right-back.

Bafode Diakite and Ryan Christie are rated doubtful while Veljko Milosavljevic is expected to retain his starting spot alongside Marco Senesi after impressing on his debut for Bournemouth.

For Newcastle, they celebrated Nick Pope for reaching his 100th appearance for the club via their official X handle and they would hope for a win against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Newcastle United’s new signings Yoane Wissa and Jacob Ramsey are not available due to injuries while Anthony Gordon is still serving his red card ban.
