Kennedy Boboye has resigned from his position as head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League side Sunshine Stars following the club’s latest defeat.

Softfootball understands that Boboye made the decision after Sunshine Stars suffered a 1-0 loss to Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Sunday.

The experienced tactician reportedly cited undue interference from the club’s management in football-related matters as the major reason behind his decision to step down.

Boboye returned to Sunshine Stars for a second spell last season and successfully guided the Akure-based club to safety, helping them retain their NPFL status.

However, the current campaign has been more challenging, with Sunshine Stars struggling for consistency in the opening weeks of the season.

After 11 league matches, the Owena Waves sit 14th on the NPFL table with 13 points, leaving them just above the relegation battle.

Boboye’s departure means Sunshine Stars will now begin the search for a new head coach as they aim to improve their performances and climb the league standings.
