Benjamin Sesko’s agents have reportedly reached out to Manchester United and Liverpool following Arsenal’s decision to pursue Viktor Gyokeres instead of Sesko. Going into the summer, Arsenal’s primary centre-forward targets were RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Sesko initially appeared to be the frontrunner, as Softfootball gathered, with the Gunners having bid for the Slovenian international in the summer of 2024 and making another approach in January 2025, until RB Leipzig stood firm on a €90 million asking price, which the Gunners were unwilling to meet.
Slovenian Journalist Miran Zore reports that Arsenal wouldn’t offer more than €65m (£56.1m) for Sesko, but Leipzig wanted €90m (£77.7m) and refused to entertain lower offers. As a result, Zore expects Sesko to remain in Germany for the 2025/26 campaign.

Though Sesko was Mikel Arteta’s first choice centre-forward, the player was ultimately regarded as too expensive. That was also the case with Manchester United, who showed an interest but were similarly put off by the asking price.
At 22 years old, Sesko is regarded as a highly promising striker, but Arsenal decided not to proceed with a deal at that valuation.
Now, Sesko’s camp has reached out to several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle United, keeping them informed about the player’s availability. While Sesko is reportedly disappointed at missing out on a move to Arsenal, he remains open to various options.
Although staying at RB Leipzig is still on the table for the Slovenian international, his representatives are actively exploring potential opportunities elsewhere. Benjamin Sesko netted 26 goals and registered 6 assists across 53 appearances last season.
Softfootball reported earlier that Gyokeres has praised Saka, two other Arsenal players ahead of potential move to the Emirates. Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres has heaped praise on Bukayo Saka, along with defensive duo Gabriel and William Saliba amid ongoing talks over a potential move to the Emirates.
The Sweden international has expressed his admiration for the players as the Gunners remain locked in talks with Sporting CP over a deal for the 27-year-old centre-forward which could yet reach £70million.
Arsenal are considered to be Gyokeres dream destination and their work on the move has put them firmly in the lead to sign the player despite so far no joy with the Portuguese club.
